The 42nd edition of the Torino Film Festival, the first under the directorship of Giulio Base, presents itself in continuity with the past, proposing a committed festival that winks its eye at the new generations, capable of living, interpreting and sharing the soul of research and experimentation that the TFF has always embodied.
The opening, in the prestigious setting of the Regio Theatre, sees a parterre de rois of exceptional guests from the world of cinema and entertainment. First and foremost, Ron Howard, the multi-award-winning movie-maker who presents the international premiere of the opening film, ‘Eden’. And then Sharon Stone, Julia Ormond, Emmanuelle Béart, Rosario Dawson, Alec Baldwin, Matthew Broderick, Vince Vaughn, Billy Zane; among the Italians: Giancarlo Giannini, Ornella Muti, Michele Placido, Claudia Gerini, Giuseppe Battiston, Maurizio Nichetti, Donatella Finocchiaro...
The festival has an intense programme: 120 movies divided into three competition sections - with jury presidents Margaret Mazzantini, Roberta Torre and Michela Cescon - and three non-competition sections, all presented or introduced by movie-makers or performers, direct witnesses or exponents of film culture and criticism. 2024 Godmother is Cristiana Capotondi.
On the centenary of his birth, the TFF dedicates to Marlon Brando - one of the greatest actors of all time - a large retrospective and the guiding image of the edition.
