Sunday 8 September is also a busy day in terms of sporting events.
In Ceresole Reale, gateway to the Gran Paradiso National Park, the appointment is with the third edition of the IREN Fitwalking Day, a non-competitive, recreational walking event along the lake ring: 7.5km in a unique setting that follows the banks of the artificial reservoir, inaugurated on 2 August 1931 in the presence of the Prince of Piemonte, the future King Umberto II. The meeting point is at Pian della Balma, near the Tourist Office.
The Susa Valley and the Chisone Valley - particularly Cesana Torinese, Sestriere and Pragelato - are crossed by the 2024 Cesana-Sestriere re-enactment, an event for historic cars (vintage or sports) on the route of the famous uphill race of the same name.
Sestriere also sees the conclusion of the 16th HAT Sanremo-Sestriere, the queen of international Adventouring events, attended by many world champions of motorbike rally, enduro and Dakar. Five the categories: New Vintage, Master Challenge, Discovery, Classic, Extreme.
